Icària Iniciatives Socials, S.A.L is a non-profit organization founded originally with the Special Education school Taiga. This first service of Icaria was created to support children with intellectual disabilities, in September 1975, at the hands of Maria Jose Pujol Red and three other education professionals.
Thanks to the collaboration of the ONCE Foundation, the Social Work of La Caixa Foundation Roviralta and the Generalitat de Catalunya, Icaria opened its services to support adults with learning disabilities. Thus, in September 1991, opens the special employment center with a Graphic Arts Icaria workshop of 1200 square meters in Poblenou (c / Pujades 77-79 08005 Barcelona).
Four years later, in 1995, to support young people and adults with a greater degree of disability, was launched Bogatell Occupational Center, situated at No 130 Llull 08005, also in Poblenou.
Later, in 2004, with the transfer of Barcelona City Council, opened the Special Employment Centre INOUT Hostel Barcelona, a ​​resort located on a farm of 5 acres in the Major Street Rectoret Barcelona.
Currently in the whole entity work 104 people, 77 of which are certified disabilities, mostly intellectual.
